Game ON!
So I got an invited yesterday for a Bachlorette party, well more like weekend, on Block Island for June. 5 Months till I have to be on a beach with all my skinny mini girl friends. Seriously depressing. I mean, I am excited but just not about my body. Time to head to the gym, hard!

Seriously Now.....
So the diet is ON! My lovely BF boarded a plane for Arkansas on Sunday (ironic, how I was there last week, not the same part, a long story, not for this I suppose). He is gone for 2.5 weeks (yes I used a decimal point, get over it). and during those 2.5 weeks, I am going to kick start my diet. Seriously. I have planned my meals, keep track of what I ate, been to the gym twice and am feeling pretty good! I mean, its only Tuesday but I gotta start somewhere right!
Hopefully, when he gets home, I will be a little slimmer and have some new healthier habits that will be good for both of us. Well for those 1.5 weeks that he is home before he goes back to Arkansas.

On the road....
So this week was supposed to be the week I began my food journal. Well it didn't happen. oops. I have been traveling since Tuesday sans notebook and pen. oops. I started out ok, a salad for lunch in jersey on Tuesday but dinner at home was a little less healthy, a salad but in a huge breadbowl. oops. Wednesday brought me to Arkansas, so nothing for breakfast (unless a banana at 4am counts, which is the healthiest thing I ate all day), a diet coke on the plane, a sandwich for lunch, more diet coke and mexican for dinner complete with a Margarita. oops. Today has so far included a muffin, a burger and fries. oops.
I guess the diet really starts next week, when I am back at home, all by myself since my bf will be in Arkansas (random huh?). So next week I will be better I guess.

You Bite It, You Write It
Back in the day, when I used to go to Weight Watchers (aka Fat Class, aka WTW), one of their big things was keeping a food diary. Now writing down everything you eat in a day can be a little tedious, I will admit it is helpful. One meeting leader said it best "You bite it, you write it" which means anytime you take a bite of anything (one sip of soda, one bite of cake, etc) you write it down. All the calories from these little bites add up. Plus knowing you have to a write everything down will make you think twice about eating junk.
So why didn't I start this last week? Well because quite frankly it was still the holidays and there was still a lot of good food to be eaten and I didn't want to "fail" during the first week. But now its a clean slate, if I bite it, I will write it. Now....what to have for breakfast?

Happy New Year! Now try to find a treadmill
Today marks my first workout of 2009. Not very exciting. Thankfully, today was still a "holiday" for most people, so when I strolled into the gym at 4:15 on this Friday afternoon (work was dead so I left early, oh well. I am pretty sure I will make up the hours next week), it was desserted. The first sign was when I could actually get a parking spot. At good ol' Planet Fitness (www.planetfitness.com) , parking is at a premium (or should I say the lot is too small for a gym that costs $10 a month and therefore everyone you ever meet is a fellow member). There are days I drive in circles before I find a spot. Now this is not so I can find a close spot, this is just to find a spot, preferably not on the random side side, that I find to be quite sketchy.
Let's face it, we have all made the resolution to get fit/lose weight/be healthier. This usually starts with a gym membership (or actually showing up at the gym you already pay to belong to). The influx of people on January 2nd is expected but still unappreciated to those who make the committment to fitness 365 days a year. I think this was the worst in college, when everyone returns from Winter Break, with New Year's Resolutions and Spring Break on the horizon. One time I went to the gym right when the gym opened (7am, aka the middle of the night to most college students) and I couldn't even get a stationary bike! I was shocked. Things are a little better a PF, considering they are basically a warehouse filled with equipment (along with hideous purple and yellow decor).
Nevertheless, I am dreading Monday, the first day of all 124197549 PF members begin their committment to fitness in 09!
