Mii not so cute

Day 2 of this "adventure" and not much progress on the fitness front. Due to the snow, I skipped the gym (the roads were bad, wouldn't want to crash or anything). I also ate a Chicken burrito for lunch (I figure it was better than Wendy's). However, I did hook up my Wii Fit. and it was not pretty.

For starters it told me, I mean confirmed for me, that I am obese. Fine, I was ready to hear that. My Wii age is 37, which would be fine, if I wasn't actually 26. Oh well, this is the worst I figure, only going up (or in this case down) from here.

The Wii Fit is quite fun actually, I did some ski jumping, yoga, tightrope walking and soccer ball heading, all in the privacy of my own living room. I also went on a little "run" through the woods, which I am sure my landlord who lives down stairs just loved. Overall, I "worked out" for about a 1/2 hour. It totally didn't feel like that.

Out with the old and in with the new and improved Mii! :-)

Day One- The Realization

12/30/08
So here it goes, I am a fat. I always have said this (I mean really, what 20something girl hasn’t?) but now it’s the truth. How do I know? Well for starters I used to refuse to try on jeans that were larger than a size 6. Now size 10’s are too tight. Like not a little tight (the kinda tight that you can do a few lunges and they will fit you) but the tight like won’t go past your thighs. Cut to me in the dressing room at TJMaxx, trying on jeans (you know, I don’t want to “invest” in being this size, so I just need some hold me over clothes to wear), struggling to find some jeans to add to my current rotation. Not cute.

The facts: I weight 185lbs and have since November. Keep in mind a year ago I was 165 and told by my doctor I needed to lose weight. So I am sure the 20lb gain would not make him too happy (please note he was brutally honest, but has sadly recently passed away due to cancer). I refuse to go to the doctor until I lose some weight. I am a size 10 (ish) and who knows what my measurements are.

My plan? Eat better, be more active (including some QT with my Wii Fit) and try to keep this blog to keep me on track. I read health magazines (self, shape, Women’s Fitness), have a gym membership, have seen a personal trainer (thanks to my BF for Christmas 07, it was a good gift, I just should apply what I learned a little more).

What better time that the New Year to start this adventure? In the spirit of resolutions, here are a list of mine.

~ Eat more veggies.
~ Eat less sugar.
~ Hit the gym 4 times a week, hard.
~Find an outdoor activity that is enjoyable.
~ Cook healthier meals.
~ Always take my makeup off before going to bed (yes I realize its gross that I don’t already do this, but sometimes I am just so tired!).
~Dress nicer for work (our dress code is pretty lax, hence why Uggs and hoodies are regular occurrences for me)
~Contribute more to my 401(k).
~ Community service at least 3 times in 2009.
~Care less about celebrity gossip (ok so this will likely last until January 7th, which is the first time I have to fly and will of course buy USWeekly, In Touch and OK! at Hudson News)

I realize that most of these are fairly shallow, but I am fine with that. They are important to me. Losing weight is also about being healthier. High blood pressure runs in my family and I know I am pretty susceptible to it.

The ultimate goal: to weigh 135 and have a healthy BMI (I am sure my Wii fit is going to tell me I am morbidly obese). And of course, to be happy and comfortable with myself, something I currently am not feeling. I have tried many things to lose weight in the past but haven’t been able to keep it off.
